Columbina Theatre Co.
Founded in 2016, Columbina Theatre is the company that I run with the writer, Peter Oswald (The Globe, NT). We created Columbina to explore the connections between Verse Theatre and Commedia Dell Arte.
Columbina Shows
Sorry About the Poetry
Currently in development, and due to tour in 2019. Sorry About the Poetry is the story of the poet, Flavio, and the trials and tribulations of his long-suffering servant, Arrlechino. After a love letter to Columbina is rejected for being written in poetry, Flavio falls into a catatonic stupor. Arrlechino has to use all his wits to solve the problem, whilst keeping his master from retreating to the tower of despair!
A Sleep Cycle of Poetry
Currently in repertoire, A Sleep Cycle of Poetry is a co-production with the award winning Poet, Alice Oswald. Audiences are invited to drift in and out of dreams. Live recitals of Peter Oswald's poem 'Weyland' and Alice Oswald's poem 'Nobody', are linked with an improvised, Butoh inspired choreography.
Egil
Our first show, which toured 2016-17. Egil is the story of the viking poet and warrior Egil Skallagrimsson. Written in Verse, with a Blues rock music score, the show traces Egil's history as a young boy in Iceland, through his adventures and tragedies to his death in England.
